Read Joshua 3:1-5:1
Contemplate: After wandering around in the wilderness for 40 years, the Israelites finally enter the Promised Land. Joshua (the Hebrew name that “Jesus” is based on, “yeshua”) leads God’s people into the land that the Lord had promised to Abraham. The Ark of the Covenant was a special box that the Israelites carried with them that contained the presence of the Lord. Notice that Joshua orders that the Ark of the Covenant go ahead of the Israelites as they cross the Jordan River. This is important: the presence of the Lord went ahead of God’s People to fight the battles and clear the way for them. God is fighting for his People. He is clearing the way for us to enter his rest. He will do the work; we must obey and follow Him.
Pray: Praise God for going ahead of you to do the work for your salvation. Thank him for his mighty works that make the nations melt in fear.
