Brent Kompelien - Lead Pastor
Brent was born in Winona, MN, and grew up in San Jose, CA. He and his wife Sarah met in their 1st grade Sunday school class, were high school sweethearts, and married in 2007. Brent earned a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2012 and is currently studying in the Doctor of Ministry program. He served as a pastor and church planter for six years in the San Francisco Bay Area prior to joining New Life. Brent enjoys the outdoors, he loves baseball, and he is passionate about preaching God’s Word. Brent and Sarah have two daughters.
Glenn Olson - Elder
Glenn has lived in Hastings and ministered at New Life since 1987. He loves training, coaching and mentoring both young and old. Prior to coming to New Life, Glenn attended Mankato State University, Christ Unlimited Bible institute and received a MDiv at Kingsway College. Glenn’s full time job is Director of Student Ministries for the North Central District of the Evangelical Free Church of America. His biggest passion is helping people grow in their intimacy with God in prayer. He is married to Anne and they have 6 kids.
Scott McCall - Elder
Scott’s greatest passion is for the church to be healthy and growing with disciples making disciples. Scott and Denise have been married since 1985. They have been attending New Life and living in Hastings since 2001. Scott recently retired from Xcel Energy after 34 years. Scott is attending Trinity Evangelical Divinity School working on a Certificate of Organizational Leadership. Eventually he would love to help camps and churches become stronger in operational leadership. He loves to spend time with Denise and their amazing grandchildren, travel to National Parks, and listen to Gaither Vocal Band/Getty music. Scott and Denise have 3 grown sons and 9 grandchildren.
Dan Ochs - Elder
Dan went to New Life in the 90’s with his family. He moved back to Hastings after graduating from Bethel University in 2009. Dan and his wife Amy found their church home at New Life. He has fallen in love with reading the Word and prayer. He enjoys living the daily adventure that God has planned for all of His children. Dan runs a family business called Integrity Employee Benefits, an insurance brokerage working with employee benefits. Dan and Amy have 4 children.
Terry Szymanski - Elder
Terry became a follower of Jesus in grade school and has developed a deep desire to know God and His Word. He married Heidi in 1993 and they have three kids. They began attending New Life in 2020 and found a church home with a great community of people and foundational biblical teaching. Terry loves to study apologetics, discuss the intricacies of the Bible, and play pickleball!

Jodi Revell -
Kids Ministry Director
Jodi is a native Nebraskan and has worked with kids in schools, churches, and other organized programs for more than 30 years. She has taught music, directed summer camps, and served families in local church ministry and missions. In 2021, Jodi and her husband Mark relocated to Minnesota after serving as missionaries in Budapest, Hungary, for more than eleven years. They have two adult sons living nearby.
Paul Arneberg - Director of Disciple-by-Doing
Paul came to saving faith in Christ as a teenager. He is an accomplished actor, musician, and performer and has seen the Lord use these skills for His glory. Paul and his wife Wendy married in 1993. He then founded and directed Jugheads Youth Juggling Company from 1994-2023, winning national and international medals. His passion is for discipleship and seeing every square inch of our lives brought under the lordship of Jesus.
Anne Van Kleek-
Administrative
Coordinator
Anne and her husband, Glenn live in Cottage Grove with their daughter. Their adult son lives close by. They started attending New Life in May 2021. Along with working at New Life, she is a substitute teacher for District 833. Anne has been to Honduras six times because of her heart for missions. She is on the Milk and Honey Missions Board which supports ministries in Honduras. Anne also loves to travel and attend to her garden in her spare time.
Kiya Anderson - Youth Coordinator
Kiya and her husband Josh live in River Falls, WI. They both grew up going to New Life and are excited to be involved in a wide variety of ministries in the church. She is actively engaged in both Kids and Student Ministries. She has a heart for sharing God’s Word with kids of all ages.
